Dear Parents/carers,

The list has contact information and websites for all local colleges and training providers, with links for apprenticeships and other helpful connections, too.  Further to this, we regularly update the local apprenticeship offers on our Lakelands Academy Website, here:  https://www.lakelandsacademy.org.uk/media/26483/apprenticeship-vacancies-01032021.pdf .  I’ve shared these with you now, so that discussion and research around Post 16 options can begin to take place.  I also think that having a look at these establishments is going to be quite motivational for your young people.

From September, it is likely that either virtually or in person, representatives from many of the places listed will meet with and talk to your young people to introduce what they offer and give detailed information about their establishments.

Your young people have also received information about different pathways available to them post 16 and more information about Apprenticeships, as many felt they didn’t know very much about this.

Starting after half term, year 10 students will be starting to have their one-to-one careers guidance interviews with Clare Danby, our dedicated and experienced Careers Guidance Counsellor.  These meetings are meant to be a ‘springboard’ for discussion and planning, and students should come out of them with a plan of actions they are going to take to secure their next steps.

As a school, we will continue to share a wide range of relevant careers information  with your young people                 .
